Feel like you’re running a circus, not a workplace?

Leadership is hard, and when you have many different personalities under one roof, it’s not hard to see why the pressure builds and you start questioning whether you’re really cut out for leadership.

Leadership isn’t about titles or corner offices. It’s about creating stability, trust, and a sense of purpose for the people who look to you for guidance. So what happens when you feel like the weight of leadership is too much? When self-doubt creeps in and you wonder if you’re doing enough, or if your team is questioning whether you’re a safe pair of hands?

Let me point out here – the clown reference is purely a metaphor, and not a statement of your leadership (just in case this stings a bit).

When a clown moves into a palace, it doesn’t make them a king. It makes the palace a circus – and when managers step into roles without the tools or confidence to lead, it doesn’t take long for even the best teams to feel disoriented and disconnected.

But here’s what I want you to know: You’re not alone.

Leadership is hard. It’s messy, and vulnerable, and requires more courage than most people realise. The fear of making the wrong decision or saying the wrong thing can paralyse even the best-intentioned leaders.

But avoidance doesn’t fix or just delay problems. It amplifies them.

If you’re reading this and feeling like you’re in over your head, hear me when I say this: there’s no shame in struggling. Struggle is where growth begins. But staying stuck? That’s what turns your potential into a massive big self-doubt beast, with very sharp teeth. .

Great leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being brave enough to ask the hard questions:

  • What am I avoiding, and what’s it costing me?
  • How can I show up for my team with courage, even when I’m afraid?
  • What am I willing to learn to become the leader I want to be?

Leadership isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection. It’s about taking accountability for where you are, even if it’s uncomfortable, and committing to do better. Because your team doesn’t need you to be perfect – they need you to be present, intentional, and real (because they then know they can be too).

You don’t have to lead alone. But you do have to lead. The empire you’ve built is worth it.

And so are you.

Your leadership challenges don’t mean that you’re in the wrong job, they simply mean that you’re using the wrong tools.

How bout we get you some better ones?
